Datum transformations
All internal datum transformations are performed using ECEF co-ordinates
WGS'84.
Parameters for 235 different datums are already build in and this list can be
extended with own (personal)datums transformation sets having 3 or 7
parameters.
Map
projections
The following projections are available:
- Transverse Mercator projection including UTM.
- Mercator projection.
- Gnomonic projection.
- Stereographic projection for the "Rijksdriehoeksstelsel (RD)".
- Lambert projections (e.g. LAM72 for Belgium).
- Gauss-Krüger.
Transformations
between projections is possible. E.g. the computation of RD co-ordinates to
(U)TM co-ordinates, LAM72 to UTM, (U)TM ED50 to (U)TM WGS84 and vice versa.
Geodetic
computations
Distance and azimuth can be computed for the geodesic and the loxodrome. Also
the inverse computations are possible. By using a position and a distance and
azimuth, another position is computed. The intersection between two geodesics,
a geodesic and a loxodrome, two loxodromes or between a circle and a geodesic
or a loxodrome can be computed. Perpendicular computations on both geodesic
and loxodrome are possible.
Area
computations
The area computations are completely dedicated to the Dutch continental
shelf. This means that lines for which the endpoints have the same latitude
are considered to be loxodromes and all other lines are geodesics.
Plotfunctions:
All computed or transformed points can be plotted on screen. If these points
are within the North Sea area, the Dutch and part of the English and German
coastline will be plotted as well. Also a world map can be chosen as a
background.
