PCTrans 4.2.6

PCTrans is a windows based program used for geodetic and hydrographic computations. The program works with several map projections and will provide datum transformations, geodesic and loxodrome calculations and area calculations where earth curvature needs to be taken into account. All computed co-ordinates can be plotted on the screen together with the Netherlands coastline, part of the English coastline and the Dutch continental shelf blocks or coastlines of the whole world.

New in versie 4.2.6.1:
- Output on file faster.
- DHDN 2001 added (Gauss Krueger).
New in version 4.2.6:
- Added “World Magnetic Model 2010” (WMM2010.cof) for
computation of magnetic variation in the period 2010 – 2015.
WMM2005.cof remains available for the period 2005 – 2010.
New in version 4.2.5:
- Transformation between WGS84 and ETRS89 by year (1989-2012).
- Transformation between WGS84 and ITRS by year (1989-2012). With several realizations.
- Transformation between ETRS89 and ITRS by year (1989-2012). With several realizations.
The available sets of transformation parameters and their calculation are available via the file “Transformationparameters between ETRS89 - WGS84”.
New in version 4.2.4:
- Transformation between WGS84 and ETRS89 for each day between 1989 and 2009.
- Transformation between WGS84 and ITRS89 by year (1989-2009). With several realizations.
- RD projection with interactive maps with correction and geoid grids.
- Tidal reduction for LAT and MLLWS including interactive maps.
- Worldwide geoid and transformation to astronomical co-ordinates with interactive maps.
- View input and calculated points in “Google Earth”.
- Conversion between Belgian Lambert 2008, Lambert 1972 and ETRS89.
- Procedure RDNAPTRANS™2008 for transformations involving RD x,y co-ordinates.
- Faster input and output with files for computations involving RDNAPTRANS.
- Faster input and output with files for computations involving LAT and MLLWS.
- Several “bugs” fixed.

Datum transformations
All internal datum transformations are performed using ECEF co-ordinates WGS'84.
Parameters for 235 different datums are already build in and this list can be extended with own (personal)datums transformation sets having 3 or 7 parameters.

Map projections
The following projections are available:
- Transverse Mercator projection including UTM.
- Mercator projection.
- Gnomonic projection.
- Stereographic projection for the "Rijksdriehoeksstelsel (RD)".
- Lambert projections (e.g. LAM72 for Belgium).

- Gauss-Krüger.

Transformations between projections is possible. E.g. the computation of RD co-ordinates to (U)TM co-ordinates, LAM72 to UTM, (U)TM ED50 to (U)TM WGS84 and vice versa.

Geodetic computations
Distance and azimuth can be computed for the geodesic and the loxodrome. Also the inverse computations are possible. By using a position and a distance and azimuth, another position is computed. The intersection between two geodesics, a geodesic and a loxodrome, two loxodromes or between a circle and a geodesic or a loxodrome can be computed. Perpendicular computations on both geodesic and loxodrome are possible.

Area computations
The area computations are completely dedicated to the Dutch continental shelf. This means that lines for which the endpoints have the same latitude are considered to be loxodromes and all other lines are geodesics.

Plotfunctions:
All computed or transformed points can be plotted on screen. If these points are within the North Sea area, the Dutch and part of the English and German coastline will be plotted as well. Also a world map can be chosen as a background.
